East Passage Theater

Rhythm surrounds each of us day after day. Be it the change of seasons, the change of day and night, the "ten-minute cycle" of the streetcar or even our heartbeat - rhythm is omnipresent.

This is also the case in music. In all musical cultures of the world, but especially outside Europe, rhythmic patterns play an important role.

We would like to embark on a musical journey around the world together with you. Our "heartbeat" will be a certain rhythm, which we want to detectively track down in different musical cultures around the world. Will we find "our" rhythm in North American Cajun music or in Argentinian tango? Can it be heard in the Balkans, in Cuba or Australia, perhaps even in Syria?

An exciting musical search for traces is in store for us in this concert. Different instruments and languages from all over the world will be heard.

Over the years, "Jazz for Children" has become a fixed and important part of our festival program, which has always met with great interest. The aim is to bring children into contact with singing and playing instruments at an early age as part of a "real" concert experience, to encourage them to join in and to broaden their cultural horizons. Our programs fascinate not only children, but also parents, uncles, aunts and grandparents, inviting them to share a musical experience. In the past, Trio LU:V has already impressed with various children's and school programs, for example with the soundtrack to old DEFA and DIAF animated films, including in collaboration with the Gewandhaus Children's Choir.
