BMW Young Artist Jazz Award: Marina Schlagintweit Large Ensemble

Prices
The nine-piece Marina Schlagintweit Large Ensemble thinks big and outside the box. Its sound combines new music with classical and jazz elements. There are no limits to the composer and pianist Schlagintweit's love of experimentation: Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sometimes acoustic, sometimes electronic, her works are presented.
Together with her Large Ensemble, Marina Schlagintweit won this year's BMW Young Artist Jazz Award. Her music is based on a finely woven web of filigree rhythms that weaves around large, warm sound surfaces and at the same time offers sufficient space for solos. The choice of instrumentation also plays an important role: alto flute, violin, bass clarinet, trombone and trumpet flow into one another, mingle, pulsate, sometimes angular, sometimes soft, sometimes exuberant, sometimes restrained. They are joined by a variety of soundscapes and electronic samples that give the ensemble its very own, incomparable sound and allow the audience to immerse themselves in new, unknown worlds.
