Double concert with Lina Allemano's OHRENSCHMAUS.
The Notwist drummer Andi Haberl is all about the right moods in his new project SUN. The nine songs on his solo debut "I Can See Our House From Here", in which he transforms early childhood memories into universal stories, sound sometimes melancholy, sometimes brash and relaxed. In terms of sound aesthetics, he moves between the soundscapes of Steve Reich, pulsating Krautrock rhythms and elegiac film soundtracks.

In his purely instrumental songs, Haberl deals with incisive experiences like the separation of his parents or moving away from their shared home. Piano, drums, glockenspiel, trumpet and melodica are used. These are joined by the prominently placed, homely sound of the banjo. Haberl recorded all the instruments on the album himself. At the Leipziger Jazztage, he will be supported live by a virtuoso quartet, including the Berlin percussionist Maria Schneider aka Mascha Juno. SUN stands for a complex yet catchy sound: it is a gentle form of Krautrock; reduced head-nodding beats are fused with experimental folk. The music is reminiscent of a winter sun that reaches the windowsill again at the end of February after weeks of darkness, bringing with it an almost pleasantly painful longing for the irretrievably past.

Afterwards: Lina Allemano's OHRENSCHMAUS

Trigger warning: use of strobe light.
