Double concert with ERIC SCHAEFER ENSEMBLE HAYASHI - In a unique way, Tigran Hamasyan combines contemporary jazz with post-rock and the rich musical tradition of his native Armenia: a vibrant music in which polyrhythms, odd time signatures and breathless tempos alternate with quieter, poetic, ethereal phases.

Released in 2020, the much-reviewed album "The Call Within," recorded with Marc Karapetian on bass and Arthur Hnatek on drums, evolves upon attentive listening into a profound artistic reflection full of stylistic eclecticism: it turns the unconscious inside out, makes the invisible visible - rarely has one experienced music so difficult to play, yet so orienting, like studying a map. Themes that have inspired his compositions include Christian and pre-Christian folk legends from his homeland, poetry, astrology, cave art, ancient design, geometry and cartography.

On the closing night of the festival at the Opera House, Tigran Hamasyan invites the audience to join him on the path to understanding his complex musical identity. An experience that sets psychoactive processes in motion and stimulates reflection on one's own self!
