SPIELVEREINIGUNG SUED FEAT. SARAH CHAKSAD

The Spielvereinigung Sued is undoubtedly a constant in Leipzig's dynamic jazz scene. The big band has existed since 2007 and is known in particular for its collaborations with numerous artists from all over the world.
After the Spielvereinigung last appeared on stage with Matthis Nicolaus and Basel Alkatrib, a collaboration with Sarah Chaksad will now follow in June. In her music, the Swiss saxophonist and composer combines complex jazz structures with free improvisational interludes and a basic compositional framework. Her more recent pieces repeatedly reflect an intensive examination of her Persian roots, combining personal influences and current events.
In recent years, Chaksad has already presented her pieces in numerous regions of Europe - but Central Germany has so far been left empty-handed. We are therefore all the more delighted that the collaboration with Spielvereinigung Sued now offers the first opportunity to experience one of the currently most exciting and innovative voices on the Swiss jazz scene on a Leipzig stage.
