Jazz Rush Big Band
The Munich Jazzrausch Big Band is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Initiated in 2014 by students of the HMT Munich around trombonist Roman Sladek, the project has long since developed into an internationally renowned success story. If you want to counteract the widespread impression that the big band sound developed in the 1920s is inevitably antiquated and outdated, it's best to put on a record by the 20-piece formation.
The band gained fame not least because they became the first resident band in a techno club - the world-famous Harry Klein - in 2015. In this context, they presented a contemporary update of the popular club sound using acoustic instrumentation.
This already adequately outlines the basic sound philosophy of the Jazzrausch Big Band. In fact, it is always about building bridges between places and times. In doing so, it not only makes the circumstances and basic music-historical certainties dance, but not least and above all its audience, which has been attending the formation's concerts in large numbers for many years.
