Philip Rumsch: ARCAIDA - 111th Birthday of the National Library
Happy Birthday - to mark the 111th birthday of the German National Library, Leipzig-based
composer, sound designer and pianist Philipp Rumsch will be performing his new solo concert program "ARCADIA" in the library's historic reading room. The project was conceived and produced especially for this concert evening. Based on the large mural by the painter Ludwig von Hofmann in the historic reading room - in whose work the myth of Arcadia is a recurring motif - Philipp Rumsch develops a reflection on the concept of utopia. Reflecting on utopian ideas - both in a global and local context - is the starting point for the evening's music. In an immersive sound set-up, Philipp Rumsch - whose music will explore interfaces between ambient, contemporary classical and improvisation - invites us to think together about visions for our future. - Admission free (with ticket)
