EARTH + Nataša Grujović & Steve Moore

"Quiet Is The New Loud" was the title of Kings Of Convinience's 2001 debut album, which quickly achieved cult status. If you listen to the US drone-doom band EARTH, you could say that 25 years later: Slow Is The New Fast.
Slowly and at first leisurely, the band builds up its walls of sound, which - once built - become all the more powerful. What sets the band apart from the majority of doomy uniformity is the fact that slowness is not an end in itself, but a means to an end. The slow-motion riffs unfold a unique atmosphere that repeatedly borrows from psych-rock, folk and ambient. EARTH have released 11 albums since their foundation in 1989, including classics of the genre such as "Earth 2" (1993) and "The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull" (2009).
The band will be accompanied on this evening by the duo Nataša Grujović & Steve Moore. With synthesizers, accordion and trombone, they too have dedicated themselves to slow sounds, which they combine with spiritual jazz and borrowings from Western classical music.
