Jelena Kuljić "Fundamental Interactions"

Prices
Double concert with Luca Sisera SENZA PESO.
Post-Yugoslavian poetry in avant-garde and prog guise. With an international all-star line-up.
She is probably no longer a stranger to many: Jelena Kuljić has been a member of the ensemble at the Münchner Kammerspiele for 10 years, has worked on countless musical theater productions and has also caused a euphoric response with her own music projects such as her band KUU! In her new project "Fundamental Interactions", the Yugoslavian-born Serbian translates what connects and separates people geographically into productive conflicts and harmonies within music.
She is supported by an international quintet that can easily be described as a supergroup in view of its top-class line-up. In their interplay, improvisation meets avant-garde jazz, prog rock meets electronic music. In the process, as yet unsuspected interfaces are skillfully made audible and areas of tension are explored.
At the same time, the program underlines that the concert stage is always a place where more is negotiated than just aesthetics: because questions about interpersonal relationships, politics and history always shine through. Jelena Kuljić uses the Bosnian war to musically discuss these fundamental relationships and celebrate the 30-year anniversary of its end. To do so, she draws on poems from Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as her own texts, which sound incredibly haunting and virtuoso thanks to her subcutaneous voice.
The result is a captivating polyphonic dialog between the five musicians, their instruments and the poets, all of whom bring their own backgrounds and influences with them - but ultimately find what unites them in these differences.
