This year, jazz for children is taking place with two separate events.

The »Jazz for Children« series has been an integral part of the Leipziger Jazztage for many years. Anyone who previously thought that »jazz« and »children« were two irreconcilable opposites will be proven wrong here: This series emphazies that jazz is fun! Exactly how fun Jazz is will be proven this year by the Vienna Soundpainting Collective and their piece »wrong & strong«. Using improvisational approaches, the five-member collective explores the overlapping of music and movement, drawing on the language of soundpainting. The performance will be developed in collaboration with a group of children as part of a workshop in the morning and then performed together at 2:30 pm. The participants explore together how certain sound painting signs can be interpreted. If they wish, they can also integrate their own instruments or dance approaches into the performance.
