LISTENING SESSION WITH SEATING AND STANDING SPACES – The Boomslang Records listening session at Vary, our go-to record store, is all about listening together, discovering new music, and sharing ideas. Amid improvised jazz, experimental sounds, and cross-genre music, a browse through the record shelves is a must—after all, you’re bound to find a Boomslang release or two there.

What happens when a small, independent label from Bezau in the Bregenzerwald meets Leipzig’s vibrant, curious music scene? That’s exactly what we want to find out at a listening session that invites you to get to know each other, exchange ideas, listen closely, and, of course, enjoy a nice cup of coffee.

Boomslang Records stands for music that doesn't really care which category it fits into. The independent label releases creative, improvised, and genre-bending music—ranging from free improvisation and contemporary jazz to groovy and completely unconventional projects.

The Leipzig scene, too, has long been part of this musical landscape: Motusneu, Glotze, Simon Lucaciu, Altered Forms Trio—they’re all part of the Boomslang universe. So is Pauline Réage, who will be presenting her album “DLYD”—set for release in November—that same evening. The Leipzig quartet led by singer Anne Munka blends jazz, free improvisation, spoken word, pop references, and a healthy dose of musical individuality. The Reza Askari ROAR Quintet picks up where they left off, having released its new album “xAYb v8v dYAx” in July on—you guessed it!—Boomslang Records. They’ll be presenting the new material live at naTo the very next day, on October 23. It’s quite possible that the record will also find its way onto the turntable that evening at Vary…

So, music geeks, jazz fans, the curious, record collectors, coffee junkies, and anyone who enjoys listening to good music in good company: come on by! There’s music, face-to-face encounters, stimulating conversations, and probably the best cake and coffee at Leipzig’s coziest music café.
