Kalle Kalima as a musical adventurer, the virtuoso Angela Requena Fuentes with great talent for changeability and Roger Kintopf, whose punchy sound and rhythmic sophistication complete this First Date Trio, making it both exceptional and unique.  

For the third year in a row, the Leipziger Jazztage are organizing the "First Dates" to establish new musical encounters in the program: Artists* who have never made music together before are invited to celebrate their first collaboration on one of our festival stages in resonance with the audience. With few or even no prior rehearsals, these concerts are carried by the excitement of a first acquaintance, by joyful expectations or cautious skepticism that at best gradually transforms into familiarity. As always in life, getting to know each other for the first time is also associated with the risk of realizing that one may simply not have much to say to each other - and perhaps it is precisely in this not-knowing that the appeal of this format lies.
