That one and one makes two is the basis of logical thinking. But the power of music can sometimes shake up this certainty - as in the case of the "Anw Be Yonbolo" project. 

Because when Eve Risser meets singer Naïny Diabaté at the piano, the result is not the simple addition of two sound languages, but something far greater: a musical universe of its own.

The duo's new program follows on from their joint project "Kogoba Basigui" - a collaboration between the Red Desert Orchestra under the direction of Risser and Diabaté's Kaludjala Band. But while 16 musicians were on stage together in this context, the two artists are now returning to the central core of their long-standing musical dialog with "Anw Be Yonbolo".

Once again, they demonstrate that meaningful art is always the result of productive friction and contrast. The musical backgrounds of the two artists could hardly be more different: While Risser comes from Alsace in France and has dedicated herself to improvisational music there for many years, Diabaté is steeped in the griot tradition of her Malian homeland. What they both have in common is that they have been undisputed luminaries in their respective fields for many years.

At the center of their work is an important message: "We are together" - which is also the translation of the project title. This makes "Anw Be Yonbolo" a lively, intimate piece of music that is touching in every moment - and at the same time a universal manifesto of sisterhood.
