40th Leipzig Jazz Days: Tord Gustavsen feat. Simin Tander & Jarle Vespestad
Tord Gustavsen enchanted the Jazztage audience (and the LVZ feature editor) in 2014 with his quartet at the Opera House. Simin Tander did the same one day later, also with her own quartet. The Norwegian pianist and the singer from Cologne met at the festival - and came to appreciate each other. A joint album was created (with drummer Jarle Vespestad), which is now being presented for the first time in Leipzig. It contains, among other things, Norwegian church songs translated into Pashto, as well as poems set to music by Simin Tander's Afghan father.
